Raphael Academy offers a Transition Classroom for high school students, ages sixteen through twenty-one. For students joining the class after the age of eighteen, placement in either the Transition Class or Young Adult Program is based on the individual's interview, class visit, conversation with parents, and faculty recommendation.
The Transition Classroom focuses on targeted academics, core Waldorf curriculum (history, mathematics, literature, the arts), pre-vocational and life skills. In addition to the traditional Main Lesson offered three days a week, the Unique Learning System Curriculum is used as a teaching tool for pre-vocational and life skills. Ability Groups target a students individual math and reading skills.
Students participate in bi-weekly community vocation work sites either in the neighborhood surrounding the school or in nearby businesses.
